Our program’s administrative portion teaches you to record patient histories, perform medical billing, schedule appointments, maintain medical records, fill out insurance forms and complete other medical office tasks using a cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) system. The clinical portion teaches you to measure vital signs, help physicians with patient examinations, draw blood, prepare samples for laboratory tests and more. You will study such topics as asepsis, infection control, office safety, patient education and the preparation and administration of medications. Medical Assistant Training Program Description
Healthcare Professional training starts every 3 weeks. And programs include:
Medical Assistants help people every day.
Because the Clinical Medical Assistant program mixes classroom and lab instruction, you’ll get the most comprehensive experience possible. First, you’ll train in administrative duties. Then, in clinical work.
Administrative Training:
The administrative part covers topics like insurance billing, office duties, and computer programs.
Clinical Training:
During the clinical part of your training, you’ll learn how to help physicians with patients. So, you’ll train for duties like taking blood pressure. Or, drawing blood samples for medical tests.
Finally, as a CMA graduate, you’ll be awarded a Career Diploma.
Hands-on Training
Firstly, medical assisting is a hands-on job. So, you’ll be trained by industry pros in fully-equipped labs. Above all, you’ll learn by doing at NTI.
To summarize, CMA students get full training in:
- Legal aspects;
- Medical terminology;
- Billing;
- Anatomy and physiology;
- And much more.
Medical Assistant Externships
Because NTI has a long list of employer partnerships, we are able to offer work externships. And an externship is a great way to gain experience and get a feel for your new job.

Both CMA program students and Phlebotomy/EKG students are eligible for externships.

Most graduates become either part- or full-time clinical medical assistants in hospitals or physicians’ offices, but some also go on to be phlebotomy technicians or electrocardiogram (EKG) technicians.
The credentials you will earn …
In the Clinical Medical Assistant training program, you will earn nationally recognized credentials.
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
Students should also earn a state-issued learner’s permit and driver’s license upon completion of the program.
What you’ll need to start training …
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent (can be earned at all Job Corps centers)
- Passing scores on all written and performance tests
- Meet academic (math and reading) requirements
- Compliance with state requirements that may involve a criminal background check, and completion of a training program meeting federal content requirements

The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant course prepares students to provide quality clinical care to patients and assist in administrative tasks in a healthcare setting. Students will learn general clinical patient care procedures, medical office skills, the fundamentals of human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, phlebotomy, medical law and ethics, and more. Upon successful completion of the CCMA course, students will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Exam.
The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) course is only 20 weeks and is offered online and asynchronously with weekly, in-person labs. Students only have to travel that one day per week. This course results in the ability to sit for the American Health Association CCMA Certification, which is a nationally recognized credential.

We are working on a Medical Assistant Pathway with an apprenticeship option that will create a map from CCMA to Certified Medical Assistant and an Associate of Science in Medical Assisting which will offer an exciting earn and learn model. More to come on that soon!
