University of Maine Nursing Admission Requirements

Fall Admission: March 1 is the recommended application submission date

Spring Admission: We recommend applications be submitted as soon as possible during the fall semester. Spring admission to Nursing is on a space available basis.

HS GPA for Acceptance – 3.5; 3.3 for consideration

4 English credits, 2 History/SS, Algebra I & II and Geometry, Biology with lab and one other lab science

Non-traditional students – holistic review – will use online conversion calculator to turn HISET/GED scores into GPA equivalents – write essay about why they are choosing nursing and any relevant background – submit resume with volunteer and professional experiences (will help with extracurricular activities); if HiSET or GED, show Adult Ed lab science courses on a transcript with Bs or better for grades. Being a Maine resident helps.

University of Maine students presently enrolled and taking classes at the University of Maine may apply as an internal transfer to the nursing program. Student must have completed a minimum of 24 credits of graded UMaine coursework with a cumulative GPA and a science course GPA of 3.0 or above.
