Vet Tech

UMA – Bangor

Video

UMA’s Veterinary Technology program is the first in Maine to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in this field.

The program is located on the UMA Bangor campus and is designed to give you a strong background in theory and principles, hands-on technical skills, and laboratory experience needed to prepare you for your future career.

Upon graduation, UMA Vet Tech students are prepared to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) and apply to the Maine Veterinary Medical Board to become licensed in the state of Maine. Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT’s) are indispensable members of the veterinary medical team, capable of providing everything from nursing care and surgical assistance to physical therapy and client education. LVT’s can also pursue other avenues, in a wide variety of career paths.

This program will prepare you to be eligible for licensure in the State of Maine. Visit the UMS State Authorization & Licensure page to learn more about the licensure requirements in other states and territories, in addition to the contact information needed to inquire further into the licensure requirements associated with this program.

If you already have some college credit, UMA makes it easy to transfer into the Vet Tech program!
